Obituary of Gayle L. Krebs

Gayle Lynn Krebs, age 80, of Tioga, PA, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 4, 1936, in Renovo, PA, Gayle was the daughter of the late Carl and Ellen Wilson. She graduated from Renovo High School in 1954 and Lock Haven State Teacher's College in 1957. Gayle taught elementary school in New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania for a total of 59 years, only recently retiring due to declining health. She loved children and taught several generations of little ones throughout her amazing career. Gayle was a long-time member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Tioga, PA, where she served as Clerk of Session for 30 years and was also an elder. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Mackenzie, who was a bright star in her life. Together they loved to pick vegetables out of the garden and also feeding the wild rabbits. Gayle also enjoyed playing with her dog Sophie, reading, flowers, gardening, bird watching, volunteer work at her church, and organizing her class reunions. Gayle is survived by her husband, James Krebs, whom she married on January 3, 1958 in the United Methodist Church of Renovo, PA. She is also survived by her two sons, Jamie (Christine) Krebs of Horseheads, NY and Gary (Lindsay) Krebs of Painted Post, NY; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Krebs of Painted Post, NY; as well as two first cousins, Sandra (Joseph) Duffy of Bowie, MD and Jane Johnson of Corning, NY. At Gayle's request, there will be no services. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at the North Bend Cemetery in Renovo, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Gayle's name be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790 or by calling 1-800-227-2345.
