Obituary of Ruth D. Thomas

Ruth D. Thomas, age 87, of Mansfield, PA, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wellsboro, PA. She was born July 31, 1929 in Ogdensburg, NY, a daughter of Frank and Florence (Barnes) Sargent. Ruth was married for 62 years to the late Douglas E. Thomas, Sr. who died in 2009. She worked at the cafeteria at Mansfield High School for many years. She was a member of the former Lambs Creek Bible Church; enjoyed spending time with her family and attending all their sporting events. Ruth is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Thomas of Greenville, MA, Dave and Pam Thomas of Morris Run, PA, Douglas and Jody Thomas, Jr. of Mansfield, PA; a daughter, Joy Cummings of Mansfield, PA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Joe Thompson of Mansfield, PA, Joan and Bob Heichel of Mansfield, PA, Joanna and Jack Shaw of Blossburg, PA; special sister-in-law, Ruth Powlinson of Mansfield, PA, Ellie and Doris Sargent of Mansfield, PA; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; 8 grandchildren, Mike (Nikki) Chris (Pam), Erick (Nicole), Chad, Laura (Luke), Josh (Amy), Erin (Andy), and Jake (Joyce); 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son, Terry Thomas in 2014, brothers, Robert, Leo, William, Richard, Frank, Jr., Douglas, Neal, Nathaniel, Eugene Sargent, and a sister, Frances. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Guy Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA.
