Obituary of Joyce M. Phillips

Joyce M. Phillips, age 78, of Middlebury Center, PA, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. She was born on September 9, 1938 in Pikeville, KY, a daughter of Ewell and Sadie (McCoy) Rice. She was the wife of the late Samuel Phillips who died in 1994. Prior to Joyce's retirement she was an RN at St. Johns Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was a member of the Church of God in Dearborn, MI. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Mary Jane Phillips of Washington; a daughter, Mary Ann Gee of McDough, GA; a former son-in-law, Gale Gee of Middlebury Center, PA; six grandchildren including granddaughter who Joyce helped raise, Daphne Phillips; five great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Carol Rice of Arizona; a special niece, Sherry (Tony) Howell of Detroit, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel; a son, Samuel Phillips in 2012; a brother, Jerry Rice; a sister, Theresa Newton.
