Obituary of Thomas W. Farrer

Thomas W. Farrer, Sr., age 86, of Mansfield, PA, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. He was born on January 18, 1931 in Mansfield, PA, the son of Phillip W. Farrer and Constance (Kohler) Farrer. Thomas was the husband of the late Iloe C. (Hunter) Farrer, who preceded him in death in 2014. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a driver for Endless Mountains Transportation Authority. He previously worked for Ralph's Service Center, Mansfield Borough Manager for 13 years, Insurance Agent for Prudential Insurance, and for 8 years as an Administrative Assistant for the National Guard in Mansfield, PA,. Thomas was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mansfield, the American Legion Post #478 of Mansfield and the Friendship Lodge #247. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. Thomas is survived by his son, Thomas W. (Sharlene) Farrer, Jr. of Mansfield; daughters Debra (Robert) Wood of Mansfield, Sally (Fred) McLuckie of Washington, DC, and Mary (James) Delinski of Covington, PA; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and his faithful canine companion Sophie. He was preceded in death by a son, William; a brother John; and a sister Mary Lou Townsend. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Fire and Ambulance Association, 381 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA.
