Obituary of John Rudy

John Rudy, age 87, of Mansfield, PA, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. He was born December 19, 1929 in Berwick, PA, the youngest of nine children born to Kost and Mary (Sikora) Rudy. John was a graduate of Berwick High School, Mansfield State Teachers College, and Elmira College. He was a 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Mansfield Jr. Sr. High School from 1959 to 1989. John was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church, an Air Force veteran having served from 1951-1954, and was a Club Champion at both the Berwick and Cory Creek Golf Clubs. John was inducted into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame and was also recognized in 2014 for voting in 50 consecutive General Elections. John is survived by his wife, June Dreibelbis Rudy; a son, Bruce Rudy and his wife, Maureen of Annville, PA; a daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Berliner and her husband, Rich of Martinsville, NJ; a brother, Michael Rudy of Berwick, PA; 5 grandchildren, Kathleen, Melinda, Marybeth, and Jacob Rudy, and Diana Rudy Berliner. He was predeceased by a son, John Paul "J.P." Rudy in 1985; his parents; brothers and sisters Nick, Metro, Mary, Sammy, Steve, Charles and Annie, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10AM at Holy Child Catholic Church, 237 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA with Rev. Bryan Wright as celebrant. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Hose Co., the Mansfield Ambulance Assoc., 381 S.
