Obituary of Alfred Howard Smyth, Jr.

Alfred Howard Smyth, Jr., age 80, of Mansfield, PA, died from a broken heart on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Alfred was the husband of the late Louise (Goldey) Smyth who died on July 15, 2016. He was a retired Operating Engineer for Local Union 542; lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of Ossea Lodge No. 317 F.&A.M. Alfred enjoyed hunting and fishing. Alfred is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, LouAnn (Joseph) Woodruff of Wellsboro, PA, Ruth (Kevin) Hungerford of Covington, PA, Deborah (Jay) Kamerer of Covington, PA; a sister, Regina (Fred) Santa Maria, Edgley, PA; 5 grandchildren, Chris (Mary Ellen) Champaign, Steven Champaign, Stacey Champaign, Zeb Kamerer, Wes Kamerer, Josh (Whitney) Hungerford; 2 great grandchildren, Allie and Mason Champaign; a niece, Regina; a nephew, Fred. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise; a son, Alfred H. Smyth, III in 1979. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Covington United Methodist Church, to benefit Emmaline Closet, 2169 N. Williamson Rd., Covington, PA 16917.
