Obituary of Jeanne Bowen

Jeanne M. Bowen, age 84, of Wellsboro, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. She was born on March 1, 1933 in Blossburg, a daughter of James and Dora (Meckes) Gilliland. Jeanne was the wife of Glenn E. Bowen whom she married on June 6, 1951 and they would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this year. Jeanne was an active member of the Wellsboro Baptist Church, the church choir and participated in mission work. She was a longtime 4H leader and also a leader for a TOPS group in Wellsboro. Jeanne was an avid traveler. She enjoyed the National Holstein Conventions. Jeanne was an active member of the Jr./ Sr. High band mothers.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Glenn; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Michalina Bowen of Wellsboro, PA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Miller of Wasilla, AK, Diane and Jack Mosher of Wellsboro, PA; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Owen Baker in 1978 and a great granddaughter Natalie Grace Gibson 2013.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2 PM to 3 PM at the Wellsboro Baptist Church, 25 Central Ave., Wellsboro, PA. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Jeff McCleary officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wellsboro Baptist Church Music Program, 25 Central Ave., Wellsboro, PA 16901. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens.
