Type Obit Here Robert Bob L. Snyder, Sr., age 77, of Lowman, NY, died Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Bob was born on March 7, 1929 in Elmira, NY, the son of Glenn and Frieda (Miller) Snyder. He was the husband of Barbara (Burns) Snyder for 57 years. Bob and his wife Barbara shared a mutual love of music and dance and won local competitions in years past for their exceptional dance style. More than 50 years ago the couple started and enthusiastically continued a tradition of summertime family visits to Sylvan Beach, NY. The past 10 years were exceptional as daughter Kathy and son-in-law, Tom Decker, included them for summer vacation trips to their cottage on the canal where they so enjoyed their morning coffee, visited with friends and family and spent numerous hours on the lake fishing for the big one. As a young man Bob enjoyed scuba diving, boxing and over the years developed an avid interest in fishing and hunting, especially when shared with youngest son Tom and favorite partnernephew Glen Snyder, Jr. His favorite spectator sports were football, baseball, boxing and NASCAR events. Bobs treasure and greatest honor was his family. He wanted each on to know how very proud and very thankful he was for their constant support and love-- it strengthened his spirit. To son Tom, his parents extend their loving gratitude and deepest appreciation for his inner-strength and constant devoted care over the past few years. As a final salute to the fishing crew, sons Bob and Tom, son-in-law Tom and his brother Walt for the last fishing trip where he succeeded in catching the big one. Bob was a US Navy veteran, he retired from General Electric and was a member of Laborers Union Local # 1358. He was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Elmira, NY. Bob is survived by his wife, two sons Robert Bob (Janine Eighmey) Snyder Jr. of Elmira, NY, Thomas Tom Snyder of Lowman, NY; three daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and Thomas Decker of Horseheads, NY, Deborah May and Gary, of Elmira, NY, Brenda and Luke Wandell of Elmira, NY, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a brother Donald Snyder of Elmira Heights and a sister Marilyn Middaugh of Elmira, NY. His parents, a brother Glenn Snyder, two sisters Phyllis Parson and Beverly French preceded him in death. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 from 1 PM to 1:45 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:45 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Albert Leonard officiating.
