Obituary of Alfred S. Hughes

Type Obit Here Alfred S. Hughes age 73 of Tioga, PA died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Alfred was the husband of Gretchen (King) Hughes. Alfred and Gretchen would have observed their 55th wedding anniversary on November 15, 2007. Alfred was born on November 7, 1933 in Tioga, Twp. a son of Alfred G. and Angie Marie (Colegrove) Hughes. He was a farmer for 25 years. Alfred was the head custodian at Williamson Jr. & Sr. High School for 22 years retiring in 1993. He was an outdoorsman and his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and gardening. Alfred is survived by his wife Gretchen, two daughters and a son-in-law Aneita Olson of Mansfield, PA, Drucilla and Clifford Butch Short of Tioga, PA, four grandchildren Richard (Michelle) Henninger, Chad Henninger, Tracey (Adam Cleveland) Henninger, Ryan (Heather) Short, four great grandchildren Owen Henninger, Shelby Henninger, Taylor Henninger, Bailey Short, four sisters and brothers-in-law Patricia Sweeley of Tioga, PA, Marie and Tom Bruce of Tioga, PA, Wanda and Lyle Vargeson of Corning, NY, June and Merle Preston of Nelson, PA and several precious nieces, nephews, and friends. An infant son Scott Price Hughes in 1962, his parents Alfred G. and Angie Marie Hughes, three brothers Victor, Harvey, and George Hughes preceded him in death. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 1 to 3 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation on Saturday, at 3 PM at the funeral home with the Pastor James D. Donahoo officiating.
