Obituary of Jack G. Howe

Jack G. Howe, age 86, of Tioga, PA, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Jack was born on November 14, 1920 in Ovid, NY, a son of Elmer and Rebecca (Hunsinger) Howe. He was owner and operator of Howes Contracting-Excavating. He was a U.S. Army/Air Force Veteran of World War II. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #0154, Elmira Heights, NY; V.F.W. Post #4907, Wellsboro, PA; the Army/Air Force Aid Society; a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Tioga, PA; attended the First Baptist Church, Tioga, PA; he enjoyed dancing, people, and was a good cook. Jack is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James G. Howe and Sue Cook of Tioga, PA, Jay M. and Cynthia Howe of Tioga, PA; a daughter, Jacquelyn M. Boyce and Don Wescott of Lindley, NY; six grandchildren, Jami (Terry) Smith, Jessica Boyce, Jeremiah, Jacob, Jehanna, and Jonah Howe; a brother, Donald (Eunice) Howe of Dry Fork, VA; a sister-in-law, Margaret Howe of Tioga, PA; a step great grandchild, Clifton (Clarissa) Smith; a step great great grandchild, Skylar Rose Smith; several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Marie (Grinnell) Howe on April 28, 1990, and a brother, Kenneth Howe. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Shypulefski officiating.
