Obituary of David Schoonover
David W. "PaPa Schoon" Schoonover, Sr., age 77, of Renovo, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born on April 21, 1940 in Kettle Creek, PA, a son of Delos and Mabel (Johnson) Schoonover. David was the husband of the late Doris (Gunn) Schoonover who died on April 16, 2000. He was a self-employed Truck Driver, a Renovo Police Officer for many years, and a PA State Constable until 1988. David was a US Veteran having served in the Navy. He was an avid hunter. Papa Schoon always looked forward to a good argument or debate, and he was always right.
David is survived by a daughter, Lori (Ray) Hill of Dover, DE; a daughter, Delores (Ivan) Baker of Nicholson, PA; a daughter, Brenda Schoonover of Renovo, PA; a son, Kenneth (Jennifer) Schoonover of Lock Haven, PA; a son, David Schoonover of North Bend, PA; a daughter, Dori (Scott) Hand of Renovo, PA; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lela Packer of Westport, PA, Stella Wathen of South Renovo, PA, Reba Clark of Nanjemoy, MD; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Schoonover of Great Bend, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; a sister, Waneeda Barger; a brother, Orlin Schoonover.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Renovo Fire hall, 230 11th St., Renovo, PA 17764. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Martha Sykes officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the New Maple Grove Cemetery, c/o Donna Gavlock, 26 Reams Rd., Beech Creek, PA 16822.
