Obituary of Michael Slater

Michael John "Gooner" Slater, age 59, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 5, 1961 in Blossburg, PA, a son of Clifford and Mary Edna (Adams) Slater. He was a self-employed mechanic and operated Mike Slater Automotive in Mansfield for many years. He enjoyed golfing, Nascar, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. Mike is survived by his sons Loren (Jeana) Slater of OH, and Austin Slater of NJ; a daughter Megan Slater of NJ; four grandchildren Alex, Leyna, Ari, and Oscar; three brothers Gary (Susan) Slater of NY, Danny Slater of Wellsboro, and Matt Slater (Sheri) of Mansfield; and three sisters Mary Lorraine (John) Pollock of Mainesburg, Cindy (Mark) Johnson of GA, and Barb (Frank) Sargent of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S.
