Obituary of Matthew William Ellison

Matthew William Ellison, 44, of Mansfield, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 at Troy Community Hospital with loving staff, by his side. Matthew was born on February 10, 1976 in Wellsboro, PA to beloved parents Ronald William Ellison and Sylvia Simmons Ellison. He attended The Home of Merciful Savior for Crippled Children in Philadelphia, PA from age 2 until age 6. Matthew then began school at Don Gill Elementary and continued his schooling through Wellsboro Area High School. Matthew graduated from Mansfield Area High School in 1997. He received services through Martha Lloyd Community Services for the past 18 years, during which he resided at the Martha Lloyd ICF/ID's Westgate home in Mansfield. Matthew also attended Martha Lloyd's Day Program, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends and staff. Those who were fortunate enough to have known Matthew, will remember the special light that he brought to everyone's life. Matthew loved listening to a variety of music, listening to books, helping in the kitchen and enjoyed long walks with his friends. Matthew will be deeply missed by all who knew and spent time with him. He is survived by his parents Ronald and Sylvia Ellison, several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many special friends. Matthew is predeceased by maternal and paternal grandparents. A private Celebration of Matthew's Life will be held at a later date at Martha Lloyd Community Services, Mansfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Martha Lloyd Community Services, Troy, Pennsylvania.
