Obituary of Douglas Hodge

Douglas Hodge, age 78, of Millerton, PA, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, TN. He was born on April 5, 1942 in Daysville, TN, a son of John and Mamie (Brady) Hodge. Douglas was married to Betty (Peterman) Hodge. He was a minister for 47 years and retired from Jackson Summit Baptist Church. After he retired, he started a ministry by mailing messages and sent 150 messages to homes and 60 email messages each month. Douglas attended Mosherville Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and talking on the phone. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. Douglas is survived by his wife; a daughter, Valerie (Kenny Vanorder) Spicer of Savona, NY; a son, David (Beth) Hodge of Gillett, PA; three grandchildren, Tyler (Kelly) Hodge, Trevor (Claudia Mack) Hodge, and Tanner Hodge; a step grandson, Tyler (Myrana) Sparling; two step great grandchildren, Miles and Bridger Sparling; a sister, Isabelle Paulick of Niles, OH; and a half-brother, Holbert (Verna) Hodge of GA. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and George Hodge; and eight half brothers and sisters. A private funeral service will take place at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. Burial will take place in Alder Run Cemetery.
