Obituary of Deanne F. Kalin

Deanne Ferne Kalin, age 52, passed away suddenly in her Middlebury Center, Tioga County home on March 1, 2021. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Michael E. Kalin. Deanne was born in Laureldale, Berks County, on September 15, 1968 to the late Garry and Sandie Street. Deanne graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1986. After graduating from high school, she earned her cosmetology license, bachelor's degree in psychology from Albright College, a teaching license, a teaching license for cosmetology, her master's degree in technology from Wilkes University, and her certification in special education. For 16 years, Deanne worked as a cosmetology level II instructor at Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center in Montgomery County. However, towards the end of 2016, she and Michael followed their dreams to Tioga County. It was there that she began her journey as a beloved life skills teacher at Southern Tioga School District. Deanne endowed kindness and compassion into her two doting children, Angela M.S. Greth and husband, Trevor and Derik M. Kalin and wife, Emily. Deanne, affectionately known as "Mommom," is lovingly remembered by her five treasured grandchildren, Cameron age 11, MacKenna age 7, Kendrick age 3, Leland age 2, and Gavin age 2. Deanne is also survived by her older sister, Michelle Ludwig and husband, Butch, younger brother, Robert Street and wife, Lori, mother-in-law, Carol Kalin, and sister-in-law, April Garrett. She had five nephews, Rusty, Jeff, Bud, Austin, and Alec. In addition, she had seven nieces, Paige, Ashley, Haylee, Addyson, Allie, Paislee, and Faye. Deanne enjoyed photographing wildlife, sketching, and playing Pinochle with her family. Her favorite activity was spending as much time as she could watching her grandkids learn and grow. Per Deanne's wishes, there will not be funeral services. Her family will celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Autism Society of Berks.
