Obituary of Carl J. Mitchell

Carl J. Mitchell, age 93, of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at his son Jon's home. He was born on July 20, 1927 in Morris Run, PA, a son of William and Stella (Novitski) Mitchell. Carl was married to his loving wife Beatrice (Baity) Mitchell for 55 years who passed away on June 9, 2008. He was the meat manager at Acme for 40 years and a WWII Veteran of the United States Army. Carl was a member of Bakerburg Community Church. Carl is survived by his children, David Mitchell of Mansfield, PA, Charlene (Walter) Sampson, of Wellsboro, PA, Jonathan (Karrie) Mitchell of Mansfield, PA, and Cheryl (Guy) Martin of Mansfield, PA; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Neal) Graham, Julie (Gilbert) Owlett, Kimberly (Aaron) Butler, Matthew (Taylor) Sampson, Kassandra Mitchell, Mariah Dann, Jeff (Stacey) Martin, Nathen (Katie) Martin; eleven great grandchildren, Mackenzi Graham, Ashley Graham, Lacey Graham, Abigail Owlett, Cameron Owlett, Landon Owlett, Carson Butler, Levi Butler, Natalie Sampson, Blake Sampson, June Martin; and great great grandchildren, Lane Sallada, Andi Sallada, Paislee Trantham, and Holden Trantham; three brothers, Lawrence Mitchell of Blossburg, PA, Joseph (Ruthie) Mitchell of NH, and Billy (Joyce) Mitchell of CO; and three sisters, Lucille (Richard) Keck of Wellsboro, Evelyn Frederick of Blossburg, and Rose (Bud) Bixby of NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, Florene, and Francis Mitchell; a sister, Ceil Malone and a daughter-in-law Ronda Mitchell. Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12:00pm with Pastor Dave Dressler officiating. Burial will take place in State Road Cemetery in Mainesburg, PA.
