Obituary of Mark E. Rice

Mark E. Rice, age 51, of Tioga, PA passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. He was born on February 17, 1970 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of Douglas and Sharon (Gee) Franks. Mark was a substitute teacher for the Northern Tioga School District at R.B. Walter Elementary School, and worked for the Martha Lloyd school in Troy, PA. He was the mayor of Tioga, and an elder at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Tioga, PA. Mark was responsible for beginning the Food Program in Tioga, as well as running the Tioga Public Swimming Pool. Mark is survived by brothers Peter Rice of Tioga, PA, James (Lisa) Hurd of Columbia Crossroads, PA, and Ronald (Stephen) Rice of Hephzibah, GA; and sister Tina (Stacey) Rice-Eddy of Tioga, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother Roy Rice. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Francis Murphy Park in Tioga, PA with Pastors Harry Colegrove and Mike Denelsbeck officiating. Burial will take place in the Middlebury Union Cemetery in Keeneyville, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Mark's name to Martha Lloyd School Community Services, 66 Lloyd Lane, Troy, PA, 16947. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
