Obituary of Josephine Cortright

Josefina Antonia Del Socorro Delgado Blanco Cortright, age 82, of Blossburg, PA, passed away at home on Saturday, September 25th 2021. Josephine was born on April 11th 1939 to Jose and Aida Margarita (Blanco) Delgado. She grew up in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and met and married the love of her life, Richard A. Cortright, there. Her greatest joy was being a wife and stay at home mother. Josephine was always welcoming to family friends and loved to help out with school events for her daughters. She was a proud Boricua who loved to share stories of growing up on "her Island". Josephine is survived by her beloved sister Sonia (Lee) Saunders, her sister-in-law Norma Ortega, her daughters Mary (Harry) Paris of Blossburg PA, Sandra (Ray) Melancon of Houston TX, Maggie Heeman of Owego NY, Cristina (Charles) Rogers of Rome PA, and son-in-law Michael Cornwell; grandchildren Darci (Guy) Jackson, Joseph (Allyson Worthley) Paris; Jules, Elizabeth, Lauren Melancon; Richard Kipp lll, Tabitha Lautt, Dylan Lautt, Josephine Burgess; Scott, Anistie, Faith Cortright, Shirley Heeman; Grace, Henry, Valyrie Rogers; great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Basil, Jason, Mila, Gunnar, Rose, Elizabeth, Lylah, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Richard A. Cortright, her daughter Shirley Cornwell, her parents, her brother Jose, her sister Margarita, and her son-in-law Scott Heeman. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
