Obituary of Rose Marie Root

Rose Marie "Rosie" Root, age 71, of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at UPMC Wellsboro from a brief illness. She was born on October 11, 1950, in Canton, PA, a daughter of Milton Roy and Marian (Johnston) Sherman. Rosie was the wife of the late Kenneth Root, who passed away on October 29, 2015. She worked as a receptionist for Laurel Health. Rosie was a member of Evangelical Wesleyan Church and volunteered at The Grandparents Program at The Wesley Academy. She enjoyed sending cards for all occasions for hundreds of people. Rosie graduated from Mansfield High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Adirondack Bible College. Rosie is survived by her twin children, Joe (Cora) Miles of Wellsboro, PA and Julie (Kevin) Welch of Marion, OH; eight grandchildren, Cody, Jenessa, Lauryn, Jalynn Miles, Logan (Jennafer) Welch, Katelyn, Mikayla, and Lucas Welch; two great grandchildren, Madilyn and Willa Welch; and one great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and her parents. Friends and family are invited to call from 6-8pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022 and from 11am-12pm on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral will immediately follow at 12pm with Charles Baldwin officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Troy, PA.
