Obituary of Kenneth Hicks

Kenneth Roy Hicks, Sr. age 81 passed away at his home in Roseville, Pa., early Saturday evening Jan 15, 2022 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He and Daisy Avery were married June 8, 1958, Roseville Baptist Church by Rev. Crippen. June would have been their 64th anniversary. Survived by children, Kenneth Roy Hicks, Jr. (Mary) Davie, Fl.; Karen Ann Layton (Timothy John) Palmer, AK; grandchildren Jennifer, Angela, Samuel Hicks; Jakob, Jared (Corina) Layton. Also, brother James (Nancy) Miller, and sister-in-law Linda Kakretz; brother-in-law Norm Seymour. He was predeceased by parents Leland and Esther Comfort Hicks; siblings Maxwell, Lyle, Lorraine & Loren Hicks, Alan Kakretz, Charlene Seymour; In-laws Merle and Caroline Sherman Avery; Genevieve Updike, Fran (David) Bolt and baby girl Hicks. Ken was a retired member of Local 1358 Labor Union for 40 years. He was one of their hardest workers. He took pride in the care of his home and lawn and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Family was most important to him. Special people included Walter T. Sherman, Chip Hicks, Bill Bolt, Sarah Johns, Lisa McClain and many other nieces and nephews. Also cousin Connie Fish and co-worker Ron Sprague. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 11am-12pm at Roseville United Methodist Church 4118 Route 549 Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will follow immediately at 12pm with Pastor Ed Siddle officiating. Burial will take place in Roseville Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Roseville United Methodist Church. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
