Obituary of Shirley Mae Stauffer

Shirley Mae (Yoder-DeTurck) Stauffer, age 85, of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of Reading, PA, took the hand of Jesus and stepped into Heaven on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at her home. She was born on June 18, 1936 in Exeter Twp., PA, a daughter of Scott and Myrtle (Seidel) Yoder. Shirley was married to Edward L. Stauffer. Shirley went to Mt. Penn School and resided in Oley, Amityville, Birdsboro, Douglassville, Reading, and lastly Wellsboro, PA. She was very active in churches in those areas. She worked various jobs throughout her life even after retiring from Ludens Candy. Shirley is survived by her husband; a son, Dirk (Eva) DeTurck; a daughter, DE (Jon) Prince; a brother, Scott Yoder; a sister, Alegra Grabey; grandchildren, Isaac, Rebekah, Tammi, Jacob, and Sarah; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one great great grandson on the way; 46 nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Edward, Michael (Cathy), Tom, Jim Stauffer; step grandchildren Vickie and Kayla Stauffer. She was preceded in death her first husband, Arlan Benjamin DeTurck; a daughter, Holli DeTurck; her parents; a brother, Gene Yoder; and a sister, Barbara Newton. The family would like to thank all those who prayed and visited Shirley. A special thank you to hospice for their heartfelt care. A special thank you to Pastor Ed Siddle for ministering to our family and Shirley in her end of life. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 6-7pm at His Tabernacle Family Church 16 Level Acres Dr. Horseheads, NY. A funeral service will follow at 7pm. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 1pm at Berks County Memorial Gardens in Fleetwood, PA. Services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses.
