Obituary of Helene Toby

Helene M. Bayer Toby, age 96 of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at her home. She was born on July 31, 1925 in Corning, NY, the daughter of Edwin and Marie (Andersen) Bayer. Helene was married to the late Wilfred Toby who passed away on May 14, 2021. She was the secretary for RB Walter Elementary School, retiring in 1987 after 20 years of service and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where she was involved with the United Methodist Women's Organization (U.M.W.). She was also involved with the Lady Lawrence Rebekah Lodge for over 40 years and the Tioga Charter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid bowler in the Corning, NY area and a member of Corey Creek Golf Club with her husband Wil. Helene enjoyed ceramics, tending to her flower gardens, bowling, golfing and most of all spending time with her family. Helene is survived by her daughters, Diane (David) Bailey of Millerton, PA, Judith Lattin of San Francisco, CA and Christine (David) Webb of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Brian (Kristie) Bailey, Karin (Tim) Bailey, Amanda Webb, Courtney (Gregory) Phillips, and Tyler Webb; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea (Jordan) Murray, Justin Bradley, Cale (Katherine) Bradley, Brooke Bailey, and Keaton Bailey; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Winifred Bayer of Syracuse, NY and brother-in-law, Francis Toby of Horseheads, NY; and beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her husband; and three brothers, Robert, Arthur, and Harold Bayer. Friends and family are invited to call Friday, April 1, 2022 from 11am-12pm at Calvary United Methodist Church, 6 Franklin St. Lawrenceville, PA. A memorial service will follow at 12pm with Pastor Janelle Moser officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Lindley, NY. Services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA.
