Obituary of Ernest Jay Benson

Ernest Jay Benson Sr., age 76 of Millerton, PA passed away at Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was born on March 23, 1946, in Rutland Township, PA, a son of Otis and Myra (Griffin) Benson. Ernest was a farmer and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and auctions. Ernest is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Steve) Talada of Millerton, PA; two sons, Wayne (Joanne) Benson of Columbia Crossroads, PA, and E.J. (Shannon) Benson of Millerton, PA; two sisters, Barbara Bailey of Daggett, PA, and Marie (Richard) Smith of Pine City, PA; two brothers, Donald Benson of Mansfield, PA, Dean Benson of Covington, PA; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Shirley "Squirt" Benson (2021) and a grandson, Colin Benson (1996). A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
