Obituary of Bernard H. Cole

Bernard H. "Bernie" Cole, age 84, of Mainesburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. He was born on February 20, 1938, in Blossburg, PA, a son of Dewey and Anna Belle (Seymour) Cole. Bernie was married to the late Hazel (Hall) Cole for 62 years before her death on January 1, 2019. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a paratrooper. Bernie was a professional engineer, a professional auctioneer, a professional life-long salesman, a national trainer for Grolier Encyclopedia, prior democratic chairman of Tioga County, and Sullivan Township supervisor for 16 years, mayor of Mainesburg. Bernie was an avid hunter, fisherman, mentor, and teacher. He enjoyed spending time on his beautiful property taking care of the lawn and flowers. He and Hazel were most proud of all of their boys and their children. He and Hazel loved to share the love of antiques, gardening, and family. No matter what name you might have known him by, Bernie, Bern, Bernard, Papa, Gramps, Grampa, Father or Dad; He will be greatly missed. Bernie is survived by his sons, Guy Cole of Lawrenceville, PA, Barry (Kim) Cole of OK, Patrick (LeeAnne) Cole of Mansfield, PA, Timothy (Jeanne) Cole of Wellsboro, PA, and Matthew (Brianne) Cole of Palmyra, PA; daughter-in-law, Audrey Cole of Tioga, PA; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel; son, Bernard; brothers, Arthur, Lewis, Richard, Donald, and sister, Dorothy Chapel. Family and friends are invited to call from 11:00 A.M. to noon on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon with Rev. Anthony Cicero officiating. Burial will take place in Roseville Cemetery.
