Obituary of Gilbert S. Groff

Gilbert S. Groff, a loving husband and father, age 76, of Morris, PA, died at his residence on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Born in Stouchsburg, Berks County on September 22, 1931, Gilbert was the son of the late George I. and Mary E. (Strauss) Groff. He and his wife, Margaret (Peggy) (Johnson) Groff, would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on August 13, 2008. Gilbert and Peggy were owners of Groffs Market in Robesonia and St. Clair Flowers and Gifts in West Reading, PA. He was Korean War veteran and enjoyed memberships with the: Robesonia Jaycees, Conrad Weiser Lions Club, Robesonia Fish and Game Club, Pioneer Fire Company and the Consistory of St. Pauls UCC in Robesonia. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Oregon Hill, PA, and a former member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Robesonia. In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Ulrich; two sons, Peter J. Groff of Womelsdorf, PA, Mark D. Groff of Robesonia, PA; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; tow sistes and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Edwin Meredith of Bernville, PA, Irene and Homer Bashore of Fredericksburg, PA. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Rt. 287, Morris, PA.
