Obituary of Mary Catherine McNamara

Mary Catherine McNamara, age 94, of Pittston, PA, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Carleton Senior Care Home in Wellsboro, PA. Mary Catherine was born on March 13, 1914 in Pittston, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Lauren) McNamara. She worked for the liquor control board for many years. Mary Catherine was a member of the St. Johns Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Pittston, PA. She was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with animals and attending plays. Mary Catherine was also a WWII US Navy Veteran. Mary Catherine is survived by a special nephew, Dr. Joseph (Ann) McNamara of Mansfield; additional nephews, Dr. Richard Bantz of AZ, Frankie and Thomas McNamara of PA; a niece, Judy Bantz of CA; two great nieces, Sara and Amy McNamara of Mansfield, PA; and a great great nephew, Christian Joseph McNamara of Mansfield, PA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Thomas McNamara, and a sister, Lorna Bantz. A private family service was held at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA.
