Obituary of Howard Ivan Baker Jr.

Howard Ivan "Sonny" Baker, Jr., age 81 of Liberty, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was born on March 23, 1942, in Blossburg, PA, a son of Howard Ivan Baker, Sr. and Rose (Galusha) Baker. Sonny worked as an electrician for Ward Foundry, was a member of Harvest Family Fellowship Church, a proud Vietnam veteran, and a member of the Williamsport VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Sonny is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Meuse) Baker; sons, James "Tony" Baker of Morris, PA, and Howard Christopher (Donna Hunter) Baker of Nauvoo, PA; daughters, Corine (Bill) Hilfiger of Covington, PA, and Nicole (James) Lewis of Nauvoo, PA; brother, John Baker of TN; grandchildren, James (Lindsey) Baker, Jamie (Josh) McCurdy, Thomas (Danielle) Baker, Lewis (Kjirsten) Meixel, Curtis (Chelsea) Meixel, Westley Baker, Lynn Baker, Megan Lewis, James Lewis, Madison Lewis, and Tessa Lewis; ten great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Baker, Leland Baker, Edward Baker, and Roy Baker; grandchildren James and Zachery Lewis. Family and friends are invited to call from Noon to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Harry Colegrove officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery in Liberty, PA with full military honors presented by Tioga County Honor Guard.
