Obituary of Eldon L. Cummings

Colonel Eldon L. Cummings, age 92, of Middlebury Center, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his home. He was born on November 28, 1930, in Tioga, PA, a son of Earl D. and Myrtle (Stratton) Cummings. Eldon was married to Maria del Carmen (Hernandez) Cummings. He was a colonel in the United States Army. Eldon was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Wellsboro, PA. Eldon is survived by his wife and his children: Daniel (Megan) Cummings of Gaithersburg, MD; Eldon D. Cummings of Knoxville, PA; Charles Cummings of Middlebury Center, PA; Carmen M. (Benjamin) Cummings Rivera of Hagerstown, MD; Matie Cummings of Tioga, PA; Teresa (Michael Walsh) Cummings of Steubenville, OH; Ana Cummings of Middlebury Center, PA; Edward (Brooke) Cummings of Elkland, PA; and Luz Cummings of Wellsboro, PA; as well as eleven grandchildren; Isabelle, Logan, Gabriel, and Aidan Cummings, Eber and Oliver Rivera Cummings, Seraphina Cummings, Amarah Cummings-Walsh, Alistair Walsh, and Nolan and Ian Cummings. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd, Minor, Warren, Earl, Charles, and Edward Cummings; and two sisters, Matie Cummings and Irene Maston. Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1-2pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Ed Siddle and Pastor Joel Ovando officiating. Burial will take place in Middlebury Union Cemetery.
