Obituary of Robert H. Baker

Robert H. Baker, Sr., age 91, of Lawrenceville, PA, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born May 9, 1923 in Tioga, PA, a son of Frederick and Lila (Shelman) Baker. He was married to Thelma (Thorpe) Baker. Robert was a security guard for Corning Glass before his retirement. He attended the Millerton Wesleyan Church; was a member of the Lions Club; volunteered for the Republican Party - especially Matt Baker; and gave a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Robert is survived by his wife, Thelma; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert H. Jr. and Beverly Baker of Dover, PA, Peter J. and Dayna Baker of Lawrenceville, PA; a daughter, Sheila Brotherton of Pamona, MO; 2 step-daughters, Gloria J. Wheeler of Lawrenceville, PA, Roberta and Bob Powers of Rome, NY; a step-daughter-in-law, Betty May of Lawrenceville, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Norma Baker of Lawrenceville, PA; a sister, Polly Davis of AZ; 20 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by a step-son, Dave May in 1997, sons-in-law, Duane Wheeler in 2009, Jesse Brotherton in 2011; grandchild, Sam Brotherton in 1993; former wives, Marjorie Shutter and Dortha Baker. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA, and Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Millerton Wesleyan Church, Rte. 328, Millerton, PA. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at the church with Pastor Laurie Greenlaw officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Guardian Home Care, 10 West Ave., Wellsboro, PA 16901. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Mansfield, PA. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
