Obituary of Marguerite E. Vaughan

Marguerite Vaughan, age 98, formerly a resident of New City, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in the Wheaton Personal Care Home in Westfield, PA. Born on January 21, 1916 in North Carolina, she was the daughter of George R. and Nettie C. (Hessee) McClenney. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Dr. James Robert Vaughan, Jr. Following the completion of her Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University, Marguerite cared for her growing family of six children at home. After her husband died in 1967 she was employed as a teacher for physically and mentally challenged children. She was a member of the New City United Methodist Church in New City, NY. Marguerite also enjoyed her membership with Parents Without Partners. In later years she travelled extensively, visiting many countries. Marguerite is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Penelope and Arthur Ashe of Ann Arbor, MI, Patricia and Albert Landry of Richmond, ME; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Vaughan of Wellsboro, PA; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by 3 sisters, Cecelia, Celestrial and Carolyn McClenney; 2 daughters, Alice Douglas Vaughan and Pamela Anne Washington, and 2 sons, David Parsons Vaughan and James Robert Vaughan, III. Services for Marguerite will be held at a later date with burial in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Blandensburg Rd., Brentwood, MD. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
