Obituary of George Derrick Wales

George Derrick Wales, age 89, of Millerton, PA died Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Wellsboro, PA. He was the husband of Beverly (Meade) Wales. George was born on July 20, 1926 in Jackson Summit, PA a son of William B. and Mina (Henry) Wales. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, a member of the Jackson Summit Baptist Church, was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving his country in WWII and was a purple heart recipient. He served as a Jackson Twp. Supervisor; attended the Millerton Senior Center; enjoyed spending time with his family; hunting; playing cards and skip-bo. George is survived by his wife, Beverly; three sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew (Kristan) Wales of Sayre, PA, Mike (Lynn) Wales of Alfred, NY, and Tom Wales of Rochester, NY; three daughters, Georgia (John) Hose of Green Castle, PA, Mina Louise (Mike) Kerchak of Sinking Springs, PA and Florence Maria of Corning, NY; a caregiver, Alberta Mase of Millerton, PA; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; a brother, Robert Wales of AZ; a sister, Frances Woughton of Pine City, NY; two sisters-in-law, Janet Wales of Jackson Summit, PA and Erma L. Wales of Millerton, PA. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Harrison H. Wales, Joe Wales, Max Wales, William Wales, Eva Purvis, Leda Montgomery, Laura Miller, Hazel Pettit, Gertrude Wales, Alice Wales, Byron Wales, and Lester Wales. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 14th, 2016 from 11:00 AM to noon at the Jackson Summit Baptist Church. A celebration of his life memorial service will immediately follow the calling hour at noon at the church with Pastor Mark Waters officiating. Full Military honors will be presented by Tioga Co. Honor Guard at the church. Interment will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY at the convenience of the family.
