Obituary of Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Smith, age 80, of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 30, 1936 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of Lyle and Iva (Smith) Sherman. She was the widow of Robert D. Smith who passed away on October 25, 2013. Dorothy was employed as the head cook for the Southern Tioga School District before she retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mansfield; a member of Curves; and enjoyed cooking, camping, square dancing and walking. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by a son, Alan Smith of Mansfield, PA; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Ed Vance of Mansfield, PA, Brenda (Tom Greene) Rumsey of Mansfield, PA; a daughter-in-law, Cherry Wilson of Mansfield, PA; 6 grandchildren, Chad Smith, Kenny Vance, Jordan Vance, Danielle DiDuro, Megan Smith, Derek Smith; 3 great grandchildren, Olivia Smith, Bristol Smith, Oaklee Smith; 5 brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Mary Sherman of Mansfield, Donald Sherman of CO, Milton and Karen Sherman of Troy, PA, Joseph and Velma Sherman of Tioga, PA, Lynn and Faith Sherman of Mansfield, PA; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel and James Bradley of Mansfield, PA, Delphine and Brad Copp of Cherry Flats, PA; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Steve Sherman of Mansfield, PA. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Marshall. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Cheryl Filson officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery, Mainesburg, PA.
