Obituary of Cassius E. Preston

Cassius E. Preston, age 101, of Lawrenceville, PA, died Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his home. He was born December 17, 1916 in Lawrenceville, PA, a son of James and Lucinda (Deats) Preston. Cassius was the widow of Rita (Konkolski) who died in 1983. He worked as a tool maker at Remington Rand before he retired. Cassius enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching WWE wrestling. He was a WWII Army veteran in the 80th Infantry Division and served in the Battle of the Bulge. Cassius is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Nancy Preston of Texas; a step-son, Richard (Martha) Gee of Lawrenceville, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Walter Fisher of Lawrenceville, PA; 2 step daughters, Barbara Ball of Lawrenceville, PA, Cindy Frye of Cincinnati, OH; a step-daughter-in-law, Sally Gee of Lawrenceville, PA; 2 sisters-in-law, Marie Preston of Tioga, PA, Elvira Preston of NJ; several grandchildren, a special grandson, Ron (Stacy) Rice, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, Rita Preston in 1983 and Madge Preston in 2004, he was predeceased by 2 sons, Ronald in 1962, Thomas in 1984; a grandson, Michael Rice in 2007, 3 brothers, Howard, Fred and Earl, a sister, Katheryn Button. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Doug Hodge officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Tioga County Honor Guard.
