Obituary of Ruth Appleby

Ruth (Wood) Appleby, age 60, of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 24, 1960 in Campbell, NY, a daughter of Leroy and Edith (Seeley) Wood. Ruth was married to Michael S. Appleby for 42 years. She worked as an LPN at Founders Pavilion in Corning, NY, and at Toshiba in Horseheads, NY as an occupational health nurse for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching Sci-Fi movies, her jewelry, and spending time with her grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her husband; a son, Michael Appleby of Elmira, NY; a daughter, Lisa (Matthew Shimkanin) Appleby of Harrison Valley, PA; four grandchildren, Jess Michael Oldroyd, Logan Charles Oldroyd, Gage Lee Appleby, and Elsie Michelle Appleby; two sisters, Rose (Tim) Elliott of Campbell, NY, and Cathy Elliott of AZ; special family members, Chad (Lauren) Smith of State College, PA, and Domini (Kyle) Lagonegro of Pine City, NY. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Michelle Rose; her parents; a brother, Leroy Wood; and a brother-in-law, Paul Elliott. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will follow immediately at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Barber officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to the charity of one's choice.
