Obituary of Evelyn I. Gilbert

Evelyn I. Gilbert, age 91, of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away, at her home, on Saturday, December 25, 2021. She was born on August 22, 1930, in Elmira, NY, a daughter of Thomas and Irene (Hamilton) Andrus. Evelyn was the wife of the late Claude H. Gilbert, who passed away in 1996. She worked at A&P for 17 years, and was a member of the Jackson Summit Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed quilting, knitting, baking, bird-watching, and word puzzles. Evelyn is survived by her son, Harold (Susan) Gilbert of Tioga, PA; daughters Nancy (Kent) Hudgins of Lawrenceville, PA, Mary Gilbert of Lawrenceville, PA, Eileen (Randy) Smith of Millerton, PA, and Kathleen (Bert) Post of Fort Smith, AR; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, James Andrus (Joe)of MD, and a sister, Janet Jones of Tioga, PA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Andrus, her brother-in-law, Charles Jones, Jr., her sister-in-law Sally Andrus, and two granddaughters Renee Congdon and Hope Hart. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Alder Run Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA.
