Obituary of Richard C. Smith

Richard "Dick" C. Smith, age 82 of Pine City, NY, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at Broad Acres in Wellsboro, PA. Dick was born March 22, 1940, in Covington, PA, a son of Cecil and Lola (Chamberlain) Smith. He was the husband of Marie (Benson) Smith, with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 28. Dick worked as a carpenter, and enjoyed woodworking, card games, hunting, animals, and spending time with his family. Dick is survived by his wife, Marie; Daughter Donna Smith-Newnum of Milford, VA; Sons Michael (Shelley) Smith of Millerton, PA, and Bryan (Regina) Smith of Mansfield, PA; Daughter Brenda (James) Wolfensberger of Hagerstown, MD; Grandchildren Brandon (Katelyn) Smith, Nicole (Curt) VanGorden, Whitney (Josh) Kemp, Kyle (Jordyn) Smith, Heather Smith, Christopher Lynch, Jaqueline Lynch, Devyn Smith, Aaron Wolfensberger, and Sagan Wolfensberger; Great-grandchildren Aurel Smith, Ayleigh Smith, Aven Smith, Ezrah Kemp, Elias Kemp, Raegan VanGorden, Kenedy VanGorden, Granger Smith, Porter Smith, Ali Smith, and Colton Lynch; Sister Janice (Earl) Strope of Elmira, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Smith, sister Phyllis Sterling, son-in-law Larry "Cuz" Newnum, and special canine companion Sadie. Family and friends are invited to call Monday, February 13, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 7:00 PM. Burial will take place in Job's Corners Cemetery.
