Obituary of William Bogart

William F. Bogart, 90, of Blossburg, PA went on to meet the master of the universe on March 2, 2023. He was born on March 12, 1932 in Bushkill, PA to William S. Bogart and Stella M. Peck. William, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, educator, and public servant, is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Tebo); son Robert Bogart (Lauri); daughters Heidi Florig (Lynn) and Susan Bogart (Nicholas Starks); grandsons Ryne Bogart and Mark Florig, and granddaughter Christy Bogart. After graduating from East Stroudsburg High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. After his service he earned his bachelor's degree from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. After several years of teaching foreign languages at the high school level, he completed his Master's degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. He taught German and French at Mansfield University from 1967 through 1992, serving 19 of his 25 years as the chairperson of the Department of Modern Languages. He was twice awarded Fulbright Scholarships to study in Germany. William served as President of the Blossburg Borough Council from 1973 to 1981 and as Mayor of Blossburg from 1981 to 1985. He was a member of the American Legion, Bloss Lodge 350 F&AM, the Fulbright Association, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mansfield. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 2-3pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will follow at 3pm with his pastor, Cheryl Filson, officiating.
