Obituary of Rose Marie Mahosky

Rose Marie (Boinski) Mahosky, age 88, of Blossburg, PA, passed away on April 14, 2023, at Sheila's Care Home in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, following a long illness. She was born on July 23, 1934 in Blossburg PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Schultz) Boinski. On August 28, 1954, she married Leonard Stanley Mahosky at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Blossburg, PA and were married for over 67 years until he passed in March 2022. She is survived by their five children – Leonard (Katherine) Mahosky of Flagstaff, Az, Cheryl (Tim) Kepp of Wellsboro PA, Mary (Thomas) Hilfiger of Hornell NY, David (Kelly) Mahosky of Chittenango, NY and John (Sandy) Mahosky of Currie, NC, nine grandchildren – Matthew, Sean, Shane, Mitchell and Rachel Mahosky, Adam and Patrick Williams, Eric and Evan Hilfiger, and three great grandchildren – Silas, Paisley and Mason Mahosky. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Martha Aston and Janice Lindquist, her sisters-in-law, Margaret Morgan and Madge Mahosky, brother- in-law Dale Morgan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her brothers John, Kenneth and Charles, and her sisters Kathryn Boinski, Marguerite Lundquist, Dorothy Raker, Marian Stanton, and Barbara Rumsey. Rose enjoyed being a homemaker for many years caring for her husband and children. She later worked cleaning houses, as a private care nurse, as a nurse's aide at Blossburg State Hospital and later at J.P. Ward Foundries until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed baking, especially homemade chocolate cakes for birthdays, and placek, paczki, and cookies for the holidays. She enjoyed doting on the love of her life, Leonard, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed looking out the back window of their house at her flowers, watching the birds and the wildlife that visited their back yard. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church in Blossburg for many years, and later Holy Child of Mansfield. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Andrews Church. She and her husband loved to travel and almost annually for many years travelled across country to visit their son, Lenny and his family. With their son John and daughter in law, Sandy, they enjoyed trips to Hawaii and to the countries of Spain, Greece, Portugal, Gibraltar, Turkey, Morocco, Turkey, and France. They also traveled to Alaska accompanied by John and Sandy together with their daughter Cheri and her son, Patrick. Friends and family are invited to call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 138 St. Mary's Street, Blossburg, PA, with Reverend Bryan Wright as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Blossburg, PA.
