Obituary of Laura Whiting

Laura Whiting, age 95, of Liberty, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro, PA. She was born on September 3, 1928, in Muncy, PA, a daughter of Charles A. and Hazel (Phillips) Bachman. Laura was the wife of the late Wellington Whiting with whom she shared 41 years of matrimony before his death on May 23, 1986. She worked as the plant manager at Liberty Lingerie Sewing Factory in Liberty, PA and enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Laura was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Liberty, PA. Laura is survived by her sons, Michael Whiting of Liberty, PA, and Charles (Christine) Whiting, of PA; daughters, Sherrie (Chuck) Brucklacher of Liberty, PA, Maria (Michael) Sedor of Wellsboro, PA, and Crystal (Bill) Flanagan of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Kelly, Heidi, Becky, Brent, Jessica, Rachael and Michaela; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Charles (Jeanette) Bachman of Muncy, PA; sisters, Clara (Dennis) Wertman of Muncy, PA, Sarah (LaRue) Whitmoyer of Watsontown, PA, and Gloria Davenport of MI; and her companion of 22 years, George R. Molloy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wellington; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Whiting; brother, Jim, and sisters, Bertha, Alta, Althea, Betty, Mary, Leona and Thelma. Friends and family are invited to call from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 with pastor Tom Harmic officiating.
