Obituary of Robert Wagner
Today, September 30, 2024, the world lost one of its great problem solvers. Robert T. Wagner, known to his friends as Bob and to those from "over home" as Butch, has moved on from this earth. He's probably already pulling tractors with those who went before. Butch was born on October 26, 1945, to Mariam (Farver) Wagner and James Robert Wagner and lived peacefully for 9 years in Bloomingdale, Pennsylvania until the addition of his little sister, Janis. Butch did all the usual boy things; tormented his sister, knocked over outhouses, drove tractors, and even made propane deliveries before he was old enough to legally drive.
After high school, Butch attended Williamsport Technical Institute for diesel mechanics. It was there that his friend John introduced him to his girlfriend Charolette's best friend, Donna Farnsworth. The two fell in love and the rest, as they say, is history.
Donna and Bob enjoyed a good life together. They had a daughter they named Wendy. Bob was a great dad to Wendy, always there to solve her problems. He taught her the value of hard work and integrity and gave her a love of all things mechanical. Bob and Donna had a partnership and made marriage seem easy, even when it wasn't.
Bob worked road construction as a diesel mechanic for many years, then opened his own garage. After a back injury, Bob closed Wagner's Garage and went to work for Wade's Concrete. Even after retiring, he chose to work part of the year for Hall's and finally Lawrence Township. If he wasn't working, he was going to tractor pulls, fixing something for someone or tinkering with tractors and farm equipment.
Bob and Donna enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and made many wonderful friends while doing so. They spent many years volunteering at State and Federal parks, enjoying their jobs as campground hosts. They especially enjoyed their time volunteering in Alabama with the USACOE.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna; daughter Wendy and son-in-law George Six; his granddaughters Ashley and Caitlyn; grandson-in-law Jarod Christian; and cherished great grandsons Jack, Matthew, and Hunter. Bob is also survived by his sister Janis and her husband Mitch, brother-in-law Dick Farnsworth, sister-in-law Dottie Farnsworth, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents J. Robert and Mariam Wagner, in-laws Fran and Howard Wykoff, sister-in-law Mary Farnsworth, and brothers-in-law Don Farnsworth and John Dean.
In honoring Bob's wishes there will be no services. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
