Obituary of Monica Hughes

Monica (Manikowski) Hughes, age 85, of Lawrenceville, PA died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at her daughters home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Harvey Hughes who died in 1983. Monica was born on June 4, 1923 in Blossburg, PA a daughter of the late Louis and Margie (Dreas) Manikowski. She retired from Corning Glass after 37 years of service. Monica was a member of the former St. Marys Catholic Church in Tioga, PA; the St. Marys Womens Guild; she assisted with the church dinners and bingo; the 50/50 Womens Club in Tioga; Breakfast Club in Tioga and the Tioga Firemans Auxiliary. She loved to collect angels of all kinds. Monica is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Donald Lamondie of Florida, Kathy and William Watts of Lawrenceville, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Lanora Hughes of Florida; five grandchildren, Layci Watts, Tammy Towers, Christie Hogan, Tanya and Kevin Hughes; two great grandchildren, Jordan Towers and Zachary Hogan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Angie Bubacz of Blossburg, PA, Martha and Thomas Jessup of Lawrenceville, PA; her guardian angel, Lucia Huels of Lindley, NY; best sister-in-law, Pat Sweeley of Tioga, PA; and her best friend, Margie Parker of Lawrenceville, PA. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Payne and Marcella Soporowski, and five brothers, Leo, Moe, Raymond, Louis and Matthew Manikowski. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 26th 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield with Rev. Jacek Bialkowski as celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Tioga, PA. The family will provide the flowers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Monicas name to Holy Child Catholic Church, 242 S.
