Obituary of John C. Zeafla

John C. Zeafla, age 88, of Liberty, PA, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. John was born July 20, 1920 in Liberty, PA, a son of Walter and Edna (Brown) Zeafla. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Surdam) Zeafla. John was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church; an honorary member of Pine Ridge Hunting Club, and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and traveling. John is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Gloria Zeafla of Liberty, PA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra K. Alexander of Bridgewater, NJ, Shirley and Bill Hebe of Wellsboro, PA; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Zeafla of Liberty, PA; 14 grandchildren, Lynne (Spencer) Waits, Kenneth L. Alexander, John L. (Lori) Zeafla, Regina (Stephen) Erb, Philip Zeafla, Dennis (Jenny) Zeafla, Kathleen (Kevin) Edler, Paul (Carmi) Zeafla, Kimberly (Mark) Bledsoe, Ronald (Lezli) Zeafla, Molly (James) VanVliet, McLane Hebe, Alison (Joe) Kibler, and PFC Peter Hebe; 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. John was preceded in death by a son, John A. Zeafla in 2000; three brothers, Louis, Clarence and Howard; three sisters, Hazel Wirth, Erma Flannigan, and Edith Zeafla; a grandson, Mark Allen Zeafla; a great granddaughter, Jordan Paige Bledsoe, and a son-in-law, Robert Fred Alexander. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Salem Lutheran Church, Liberty, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at the church with the Rev. Raymond Forsythe officiating. Burial will be in Salem St. Paul Cemetery, Liberty, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johns memory to the Salem Lutheran Church, P. O.
