Obituary of Samuel Leroy Heffner

Samuel Leroy Heffner, age 94, of Lawrenceville, PA died Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Samuel was born March 1, 1915 in Lawrence Twp., PA a son of Simon and Grace Bell (Smith) Heffner. He was the husband of Margaret (Deats) Heffner for 73 years. He had been employed as a blacksmith, lager, farmer, CC worker, and had worked at Ingersol Rand and Corning Glass, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Corning Glass Local Union #1000, the American Flint Glass Workers Union AFL-CIO, a member of the NRA and a Democratic Committeeman. Samuel is survived by his wife, Margaret; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Aldean Heffner, Tioga, PA, Elwood L. and Joan Heffner, Tioga, PA, Donald E. and Maria Heffner, Susquehanna, PA, Richard and Barbara Heffner, Lindley, NY; five daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline J. (Myers) Hambright, Mifflintown, PA, Stella L. and Edward Eisenmenger, Rochester, NY, Velma J. (Bennett) Champion, Coolridge, WV, Sandra K. and Gerald Woodard, Lawrenceville, PA, Carol A. and Calvin Six, Lawrenceville, PA; 49 grandchildren; 103 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Benjamin F. and Lillian Heffner, Andrew and Viola Heffner, Francis and Betty Heffner, Carl L. and Inez Heffner, Harold Heffner and Robert Heffner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennie Heffner, Mildred and Clayton Bliss, Bill Green, Clayton Bliss, Ruth and Claude Merrick and Edward Strong. He was also predeceased by six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three sons-in-law. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev.
