Obituary of Philip C. Snyder

Philip C. Snyder, age 61, of Tioga, PA, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at his home. Philip was born April 14, 1949 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of Clifford A. and Grace (Hoffman) Snyder. He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Tioga, PA; graduated from Williamson Jr.-Sr. High School in 1967 and from Penn State University in 1971. He was employed by Treats Hardware in Tioga, Corning Glass, and Halls Homes and Lumber. Philip was a lifetime member of the Tioga Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as treasurer and an EMT with the Tioga Ambulance Association where he was a director. He was also a member of the Tioga Water Authority. Phil was an avid cyclist, Penn State University football fan, and took great pleasure in natures variety and beauty. His life was one of dedication and service to family, friends and his community. Philip is survived by a brother, David Snyder of Navarre, FL; a niece, Leslie, of Dover, DE; a nephew, Christopher of Dover, DE; an aunt, Doris Hoffman of Telford, PA; cousins, Tammy (Moyer) and Edwin Mook of Warrington, PA, Joan (Hoffman) and Bob Kelly of Lower Gwyned, PA, Tom and Shirley Hoffman of Harrisburg, PA, Holly Hoffman of Portland, ME, Marcella (Snyder) and Lew Theokas of Sun City, AZ. He was predeceased by his father, Clifford, in 1978, his mother, Grace in 2002, and a cousin, Karl Snyder in 2005. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Tioga, PA with Pastor Debra Button officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Tioga, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
