Obituary of Howard Hughes

Howard Hughes, age 84, of Wellsboro, PA, passed on while surrounded by his family on Friday, November 4, 2011 in Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Howard was born on August 29, 1927 in Salladasburg, PA, the son of Howard Watson and Olive Alphreda (Dyke) Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Grace (Long) Hughes. Prior to his retirement, Howard was employed as a painter with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was a US Army veteran who served his country in Japan following WWII and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. After retirement Howard & Grace devoted their time to their family and enjoyed many weekends with their friends in the PA Grand Canyon Camper Club. Howard was predeceased by a son, William Wellen. In addition to his wife, Grace, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Wellen, Howard and Nancy Hughes, Barry and Anne Hughes, Chris and Maureen Hughes, all of Wellsboro, PA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Mark Sternglanz of TX, Glenda and Dan Klinge of MO; a sister, Reba Wolfe of LasVegas, NV; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
