Obituary of Benjamin William Swan

Benjamin William Swan, known to friends and family as Ben, age 14, of Middlebury Center, PA died on Monday, August 13, 2012 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA due to injuries from an automobile accident on August 9, 2012. Born on March 12, 1998 in Lansdale, PA he was the son of Dale T. and Lynda (Swartley) Swan of Middlebury Center, PA. Ben was a loved and happy student at Williamson Jr. Sr. High School, in Tioga, PA. He would have been entering the 9th grade this fall. Throughout his school years Ben attended Trinity Lutheran School in Wellsboro, PA and Clarkwood Elementary in Elkland, PA. He was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale, PA, ARBA, ADGA, HLRSC, AFNZRB, CRSC, as well as a very active member of Tioga County 4H. Ben served as past President and current V.P. of Hare Raisers 4H club as well as a member of Tioga County 4H County Council. He loved to raise and show his animals at the Tioga County Fair each year as well as at ARBA shows across the country. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, horseback riding, swimming and X-box live with all his friends. His infectious laugh, sense of humor and beautiful smile touched everyone he met. In addition to his parents, Dale, Sr. and Lynda Swan, he is survived by a sister, Jessica Swan of Middlebury Center, PA; his maternal grandfather, Donald Swartley of Colmar, PA; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Darlene Swan of Princeton, MN; aunts, uncles, cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Dale T Swan, Jr. D.J., on August 9, 2012, and his maternal grandmother, Carol Swartley, on January 3, 2007. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA, and Monday, August 20, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Avenue and Luther Lane, Wellsboro, PA. Funeral services will be held at Noon at the church with Rev. Peter A. DeVantier officiating.
