Obituary of Cora Mae Howe

Cora Mae (Walton) Howe, age 89, died on Friday, September 28, 2012 in The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Born on November 23, 1922 in Charleston Twp. PA, she was the daughter of Henry Patterson and Arabella (Knapp) Walton. Cora was predeceased on June 6, 2006 by her husband, Paul Jesse Howe whom she married on Sept. 9, 1938. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and enjoyed working on the election board for the Democratic Party. Cora was well known for baking pies, jams, jellies and pumpkin rolls. Cora is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Joan Howe of Nelson, PA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Ken Davis of Tioga, PA, Judy and Don Bruner of Springfield, MO, Marilyn and Roger Wood of Tioga, PA; one sister, Doris Hall of Big Flats, NY; three sisters-in-law, Edie Walton of Elmira, NY, Carolyn Walton of Elmira, NY; Alberta Young of Mansfield, PA; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Monalee Johnston of Mainesburg, PA; two daughters-in-law, Ruthann Howe of Tioga, PA, Helen Howe of NH; one former daughter-in-law, Sandra (Ronnie) Cleveland of Middlebury, PA; 33 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by three sons, Paul Howe in 1970, Jesse Howe in 2008, Henry Howe in 2011; one granddaughter, Penny Boyd; one grandson, Jeffery Howe; a great grandson, Dustin Wood; two great great grandsons, Tristen Beckman and Bryce DeBockler; four brothers, William, Edward, Henry and Howard Walton and a sister, Ethel Sutton. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 2:00 PM at the funeral chapel with Pastor Steven Neff officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Cora's memory to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 9 Meadow St., Tioga, PA 16946 and Laurel Hospice, 24 Walnut St., Wellsboro, PA 16901.
