Obituary of Evelyn Doris Slaymaker

Evelyn Doris (DenBleyker) Slaymaker, age 87, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 15, 1925 in Passaic, NJ, she was the daughter of Conrad and Florence (Karl) DenBleyker. Evelyn and her husband, Glenn Slaymaker, would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on August 12, 2013. Prior to her retirement, Evelyn was employed as an accountant and payroll clerk with Roman Haus. She was a member of the Bakerburg Community Church and enjoyed quilting. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Glenn, two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cheryl Slaymaker of Newfoundland, PA, Glenn and Edie Slaymaker of West Hebron, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Samuel Yeckley of Morrisdale, PA; a brother, Harold DenBleyker of Pompano Beach, FL; 7 grandchildren: Crystal and Steve, David and Breanne, James, Glenn, David and Sarah, Daniel and Jessica, Dean and 7 great grandchildren: Dylan, Damian, Savannah, Bristol, Peyton, Lauren, Janelle. She was predeceased by a brother, John DenBleyker and a sister, Marie Hart. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at the Bakerburg Community Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following calling hours at 1:00 PM at the church with Pastor Dave Dressler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 and the Bakerburg Community Church, 197 Gray Valley Road, Mainesburg, PA 16932.
