Obituary of George F. Fanslau

George F. Fanslau, Jr., age 72, of Wellsboro, PA, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 12, 1940 in Woodbury, NJ, a son of George F. and Jeanne (Cornell) Fanslau. George was married to Eleanor (Brown) Fanslau and would have celebrated their 18th anniversary on September 23rd. He was employed by Prudential Insurance and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. George was an aviation enthusiast who obtained a pilot's license at age 17 and a commercial license at age 19. He was well-known for his adventurous nature, and single-engine aircraft flying exploits, such as banner towing, crop dusting and cross country tours to deliver new Piper airplanes from Lock Haven, Pa to dealers all over the country. He had aerobatic training and was a member of the EAA, Experimental Aircraft Assoc., and AOPA, Aircraft Owners Pilots Assoc. George is survived by his wife, Eleanor; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Barry Coles of Woodstown, NJ; a son, Christopher Fanslau of Pitman, NJ; 3 step-daughters, Jodie (Richard) Loufik of Pilesgrove, NJ, Barbara Kirsch of Wilmington, DE, Eleanor Kirsch of Woodstown; a step-son, Edward Kirsch; NJ; a grandson, Cody Coles; 5 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Maria Fanslau of Pitman, NJ, Ernest and Sharon Fanslau of Clarksboro, NJ. George was predeceased by his parents. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 A.M. at the funeral chapel with Rev. David Blowers officiating.
