Obituary of Robert D. Smith

Robert D. Smith, age 81, of Mansfield, PA died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Carleton Senior Care Home, Wellsboro, PA. He was born June 11, 1932 in Mainesburg, PA, a son of Elmer and Anna (Baity) Smith. Robert was married to Dorothy (Sherman) Smith. He was a self-employed truck driver until his retirement. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mansfield, PA served as Trustee and Deacon. Robert was a former member of the Mansfield Lions Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Williamsport, PA. He enjoyed camping and bowling. Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Alan Smith of Roseville, PA; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Ed Vance of Mansfield, PA, Brenda (Tom Greene) Rumsey of Roseville, PA; a daughter-in-law, Cherry Wilson of Mansfield, PA; 6 grandchildren, Chad Smith, Kenny Vance, Jordan Vance, Danielle Van Gheem, Megan Smith and Derek Smith; 2 great grandchildren, Olivia Smith and Bristol Smith; special nieces, Carolyn Gernert of Troy, PA, Joy Rumsey of Daggett, PA; a special nephew, Steve Sherman of Mansfield, PA; several additional nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Marshall Smith in 1988, 2 sisters, Shirley Rumsey and Audrey Clark. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from Noon to 1:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Allen Goss and Rev. Steve Case officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery, Mainesburg, PA.
